Amid tight security, all January 26 functions in the Union Territory of Jammu and Kashmir on Sunday passed off peacefully.

“The Republic Day functions at all district headquarters passed off peacefully,” DGP Dilbagh Singh said.

The Republic Day was observed in Jammu and Kashmir first time after the abrogation of Article 370 and after the bifurcation of theerst while state into two union territories on August 5.

The main Republic Day function took place at the winter capital in Jammu where Lt Governor G.C. Murmu hoisted the tri-colour.

In Kashmir, the main function took place at the Sheri Kashmir Cricket stadium in Srinagar where the adviser to Lt Governor, Farooq Khan, hoisted the tri-colour.

The January 26 functions were held in the district headquarters across Jammu and Kashmir.
